Our very 1st Sumire was opened in Yutenji, Tokyo back in June 2009.

At that time, the image of Yakitori was just for men to enjoy with beer or sake in a Yakitori bar.

Mr. Yuzawa Tadanori, the President of Sumire thought it would be better if more people could enjoy the cuisine too. He would like to target & cater for families, office ladies, couples and many more to enjoy Yakitori casually with good atmosphere and service, thus, we change the concept from a Yakitori bar to a Yakitori Restaurant feel.

Till date, we have over 100 outlets in Japan.

As why we would name our restaurant as "Sumire" is because the word "smile" in Japan is pronounce as "Su-Mi-Le" and he thought was a catchy name to use, so he fine tune the name to what we are using today "Sumire Yakitori House". Sumire Yakitori House hopes to promote that "smile is priceless" which encompasses both food and services would bring smiles to everyone's faces.
